Born Walter J. Obree Smith in Southampton, England in 1878. Took his name from Australian novelist and writer Guy Boothby's (1867 – 1905) famed main character, Dr. Nikola who appeared in magazines as early as 1895. As Louis Nikola, he debuted at St. George's Hall in 1908. Known for two editions of hand shadow books, The Nikola Card System (1927) and Magical Masterpieces (1934). He passed away in 1936 at the age of 58 in South Harrow, Greater London, England.
